Lack of sleep can cause extreme stress to your body and impact your health significantly.
Many would agree that when they haven’t had enough sleep, they don’t feel as well as when they do.
Sleep is unconscious relaxation. It gives our body and mind the chance to rebalance, heal and rejuvenate our cells.
Therefore, if you find it hard to consciously relax, at least try to give yourself a decent period of sleep.
When we sleep, we give our body a break from thinking and feeling emotions that cause us to feel stressed.
In other words, we give our body a bit of a holiday from our conscious doing.
On its holiday it has a chance to do some house cleaning to help bring your body back to balance.
It also helps increase our ability to feel calm and relaxed when we’re awake.
For instance, when we are deprived of sleep, this can cause our stress response to be activated.
Studies have shown that there is a link between lack of sleep and issues of high blood pressure and heart disease.
These issues are possibly due to the overactivity of the stress response when the body hasn’t had much sleep.
During sleep our body also has a chance to give sicknesses or injuries of the body its full attention.
For instance, it releases through the immune system a type of small protein called cytokines. Cytokines fight inflammation, trauma and infections. This explains why we feel a lot better during a time of sickness when we have a sufficient amount of sleep to recover.
With sleep as a form of relaxation and the importance it has to the wellbeing of our mind and body, it is seen how valuable relaxation is to our life. Furthermore, this shows how sleep can improve our ability to relax.
Studies have found that people who have little sleep have higher levels of depression and anxiety than people who sleep normally.
This shows the significance that sleep has to our mood and feeling well.
Therefore, lack of sleep maybe a cause to a person feeling irritable, sad or unenthusiastic.
